Good morning Troop 210 parents & leaders: This is an early reminder that the next Parents' Meeting will be held on February 19, Tuesday. We will be discussing various issues, however one is of utmost importance. I would like to bring it to your attention now and we will discuss it in more detail at the meeting. I have had various leaders/parents come to me with the same problem: a lack of respect by scouts towards leaders. As leaders, we strive to make the meetings as instructive and exciting as possible (of course, this depends on what the scouts have planned for the month). Most of us have the spent the day at work or school and patience levels are perhaps low. The scouts themselves are restless after spending the day in a classroom. However, this is not an excuse to misbehave, show disrespect, etc. It is very disconcerting and frustrating as a leader to be trying to instruct the boys when very few are paying attention. Troop meetings are the equivalent to the classroom and leaders are equivalent to the teacher in terms of behavior. We ask that you come on time, but if you are running late, please keep your voices down. There is no need to disrupt the meeting. All scouts need to understand that if they continue to show disrespect that they will be asked to leave the meeting and we will need to meet with their parent(s). Before Tuesday's meeting, please sit down with your son and explain to him the need for respect and appreciation for the adult leaders. We are here for the scouts, no one else. Many of us could have chosen to be elsewhere. Thank you for your support & we'll see you on Tuesday! YIS, Tim Miller, et al.
